Prime Minister Mark Carney to meet with Donald Trump

Hamilton, ON, May 5, 2025– Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump Tuesday in Washington. The meeting comes as Trump continues to make comments about Canada becoming the 51st state.

This is the first in-person meeting between Carney and Trump since Carney was sworn in as prime minister in March.

In a press conference Friday, Carney told reporters he will head into the meeting well-prepared and “always acting in the best interests of Canada.”
