Salmonella contamination sickens dozens

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning members of the public to not consume a brand of mini pastries that have been connected with an outbreak of Salmonella infections.

The federal agency says 61 people have become ill, with 17 of those individuals being hospitalized.

Certain brands of eggs are also being recalled due to Salmonella.

Brian Coombes, professor with the Department of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences, is available to speak on Salmonella. He can be reached at coombes@mcmaster.ca.
