Tariff turmoil: Experts on the Canadian impact
Hamilton, ON, Aug. 1, 2025 –U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order, putting 35 per cent tariffs on select Canadian imports, up from the previous 25 per cent rate imposed earlier this year.
This applies to goods that don’t comply with the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA). The 50 per cent tariff on steel and aluminum import from all countries, including Canada, remains in effect.
